Shylock is a money lender. He lendsmoney with interest to people. He is miserand his ducats are more important to him than his life and his daughter. But, at thepoint when he demands for the pound offlesh to the duke, his hatred for Antonio isfar more important than money.

shylock values his ducats more than anything else. He also considers his daughter after his money . he values his money more than Jessica, as is evident from his complain to Tubal about losing his money and his daughter. the mention of his daughter in the second word after money shows his greed for money. he calls his daughter a thief in the presence of another person. this depicts that the concern and regard for money or ducats is more in this view even than his daughter....hope this helps you dear
