Speaking of any character as an "everyman" character is to say that every human being can find something in common with the character because he represents the general human condition. We can all identify with him (in this case) to one extent or another. We can see ourselves in him and his story.

The word Siddhartha is made up of two words in Sanskrit language, siddha (achieved) + artha (what was searched for), which together means "he who has found meaning (of existence)" or "he who has attained his goals". In fact, the Buddha's own name, before his renunciation, was SiddharthaGautama, Prince of Kapilavastu.
