hi.

The Mediterranean and Red Seas. The Suez Canal is a man-made waterway in the country of Egypt that connects the southeastern part of the Mediterranean Sea at Port Said with the northern end of the Red Sea. Because the Red Sea empties into the Indian Ocean, the Suez Canal provides a crucial shortcut from west to east.

Before the Canal was opened, ships going from Europe to the Indian Ocean would have to sail all the way around the southern tip of Africa. However, with the canal in place, ships can now make the trip much faster, going through the Mediterranean, to the Red Sea, and finally into the Indian Ocean off the eastern coast of Africa.

hope it helps u
