Lotus Mahal was the most charming structure in Royal centre. It got it`s name during the 19th century from the British travellers .There is hardly any evidence regarding the usage of this building. Some believed it to be a council chamber which was used for the meeting of king and his advisers.
It reflected the achitecture style of Indo-Islamic style. It beared the style of Muslim which was visible through the pillars and arch. The wall and roof were constructed in Indian style. Stone and wooden figures were engraved on the roof as well as walls to provide a decorative look .
The Vijayanagara rulers spent a lot of money in building huge structures. They believed that their prestige among people would enchance if they spent on the beautification of the structures.
Elephants tables – The Ryans of the Vijayanagara maintained huge number of army ,troops and elephants. They were well organised too. In order to house such a large number of elephants, stables were constructed near the Lotus Mahal.
