Raja is a tiger  who was caught by a  Shikari and then sold to the circus owner. The animal feared The Captain(the owner of the circus), the trainer, ringmaster and unfamiliar humans.

The Captain was able to tame the tiger by keeping him hungry and through the arrangement of chairs in odd manner. The chairs were carved  in odd manner with a stool and the tree placed right in between Raja and his tormentor(Captain). This made the tiger tremble with fear.The presence of furniture, meant  for human use was enough to make the tiger obey his tormentor.
