the central nervous system consists of the BRAIN and the SPINAL CORD.

functions:-

BRAIN: it receives and interprets the information sent from the receptors from all over the body via the neural nerve. it then interprets that information and sends the result information via the motor nerve to different glands, muscles and organs of the body.

it has many parts and different part of the brain are responsible for different actions. brain is the main thinking and processing part of the body.

SPINAL CORD: this is the place where nerves from all over the body meet up and form an arc called reflex arc. the spinal cord is responsible for reflex actions(actions which are quick, sudden and take place without thinking).

it connects nearly all parts of the body to the brain, with which it forms the central nervous system. it also helps in transferring information from the body parts to the brain and from the brain to all the body parts for their functioning.
