what does the charge on the atom of a molecule mean ? how do we assign the charge of atom in a molecule.
(i.e NH4+ , what doe the + indicate, how is to assigned to hydrogen atom?)​

Answer:

charge of the atom indicates either gain or loss of electrons. if it's gain put a negative sign and for loss put a positive sign.

the one-electron loss means one negative sign and two-electron means indicate -2.
