Methane is present in a very large proportion in Biogas as it combusts easily and provides good amount of energy. It has a good calorific value which is a good indicator of efficiency.

The residue left after the production of biogas is used as fertilizer by poor farmers .The residue is a cheap and high quality manure which helps farmers to minimise the costs of farming and increases their profitability. It also is safe and natural and has no side effects unlike chemical fertilizers.
