On a summer morn, the schoolboy would like to rise early when the birds sing, the distant huntsman blows his horn and the skylark sings with him. He considers all these to be the sweet company. But, he is not allowed to do this as he has to go to school and the school drives all joy away.

The huntsman poem "The school boy" is mentioned in the pastoral tradition.

Explanation:

This poem mainly focuses on the formal learning and its downsides.

  • The boy doesn't want to go to the school in the summer.
  • During the summer days "drive away all the joy" to go to school.
  • The schoolboy wakes up early in the morning.
  • He mentioned the morning environment as birds chirping in the morning, skylarks used to sing along with a boy, huntsman used to blow the horn.

The above mentioned tasks are unable to perform by the boy as he has to go to school early in the morning.
