The action of Mara’s wife throwing the medicinal creeper to the fire shows the ignorant nature of typical Indian character in general.

The excerpt that has been given in the question is from the story “About a medicinal creeper”.

Here, I have presented the story flow that lead to the throwing of the medicinal leaves to the fire by Mara’s wife.

Mara brought home one part of an equally divided deer that was hunted by Mara and his friend in the jungle. They caught the deer by laying a trap. They skinned it and divided it equally. Mara brought that one part of the deer wrapped in a bag. In the mean time Mara’s wife had already prepared the masala for the deer and waiting to cook it. Mara gave the bag to his wife which later turned as a big surprise.

When Mara’s wife opened the bag, a little wild bug jumped out of it and ran outside their home instead of deer meat. Mara ran behind the wild bug and his wife ignorantly thrown the medicinal creeper to the fire.
