The monotheistic movement represented bhakti of only one God, ie; was non-incarnate and formless, eternal and ineffable. It orientated Nirgana.
The monotheistic movement symbolizes the synthesis elements from the other traditions but did not accept the element in their original form but made several innovations and adaptation which gave new meanings to all concepts.
It was different from Vaishnava bhakti as monotheistic movement believed in one God which is formless, eternal where as the Vaishnava bhakti believed in many Gods.

Monotheistic believes in the oneness of god. In their movement god is considered the most superior power in universe and the creator of all the human beings.
While in vaishnava bhakti, the people believe in the teaching of lord vishnu. They believe in the worshipping of idols.
