a poem wrote by James Patrick Kinney.

the last 2 lines :-

They didn't die from the cold without,

They died from the cold within.

here the 'cold without' means that the the people who were suffering from the harsh cold wanted wood log for lighting up the fire and one of them had it but he didn't wanted to give it as he didn't want his log to be usefull for the other 5 members so that's the meaning that the people didn't die from the cold temperature but died due to the cold hearted person who has refused to give them the wood for putting up a fire .
