The poet is so deep in a fog that he is unoriented and can not find his way back home. A man who promised to take him home is then supporting him. When the poet came home, the man who led him home was blind. On an abstract level, the poem can be about how people trust only the things they can see and are ignorant of things unrealized, such as morality, faith, religion, and so on.
