In the tiger and the zoo the poet describes the mental state of the tiger in the cage. There is a comparision between the life of the tiger in wild state, in its natural habitat and life of the tiger in the cage. The poet gives a strong msg that wild animals should remain in their natural habitat. Out of this the poet's strong plea that freedom shouldn't be snatched from wild animals. Captivity is the worst kind of punishment. Poet stresses on the idea of freedom and how valuable it is.

Answer:

The poet tries to expose the miserable life led by the animals in the zoo. He compares the life of the tiger in the zoo with its life at a natural habitat. The animals have the right to freedom and should not be caged. They should be allowed to run free in the wild.
