it means that before the gold flinch came, everything was calm and tranquil. But after the mother bird or the gold flinch came, the branches and leaves started moving, baby birds started chirping and the laburnum tree all together started to move.

It is like when you switch on and a machine starts..similarly when the bird come the tree begins to move.
