Explanation:

The poet wants to convey that it is cruel to keep the wild animals in small enclosures of the zoo, away from their natural habitat. They feel angry, helpless and unhappy and remember their life and environment in the forest.

Answer:

The message conveyed by the poem is that just like humans, animals too long for fréedom and do not like being caged. For ínstance, the tiger in the poem longs to be in the jungle and he looks longingly at the shining stars in the sky. By looking at the stars, the tiger hope to be with nature some day. Just like we humans after working hard in this modern world, look up to nature for comfort. We also learn that one should not be kept away from his natural surroundings as doing so would hamper the growth of his character
