This quote first appeared in Julius Caesar - the drama (play) written by the great Bard of Avon, William Shakespeare. You can find it in Act 3 scene 1. This dialogue was said by the Roman Dictator, Julius Caesar at the moment of his assassination to his friend Marcus J. Brutus whom he trusted but at that time became aware of Brutus being one of the assassins( conspirator) and exclaimed the above quote to his friend Brutus whom he trusted. Caesar said this to raise Brutus' awareness that Caesar took him as his friend but he broke his trust and as a result, Caesar is disheartened by seeing the very act of Brutus.
