Answer: In the poem, the poet asks the bird (Speaker) if she can pet the bird and the poet will provide the bird silken quilts , velvet bed and soft carpets . The bird refuses these worldly matter and tells ,that a rocking twig can be the finest chair , an ivy wall would be the best place to rest.

The bird puts her freedom above all the luxuries and comforts and wants to fly high in the sky.
