the swallow see the rich making merry in their beautiful house and the beggars sitting at the gates. when he flies into dark lanes, he see the white faces of starring children looking out listlessly at the black streets. he also sees the two hungry boys lying in each other's arms to try and keep themselves warm so he sees a horrible picture of city while flying over the city.
