Sweat is mostly made up of water. There are small amounts of other chemicalcompounds, though. For example, sweat also contains ammonia andurea, which are produced by the body when it breaks down proteins from the foods you eat. Sweat also contains sugar and salts, such as sodium, chloride, and potassium.

Sweat is mainly water, but it also contains some salts. Its main function is to control bodytemperature. As the water in the sweatevaporates, the surface of the skin cools.

We need sweating to control bodytemperature; water evaporating from the skin cools the body. Sweating is under the controlof the sympathetic nervous system, which orchestrates the body's reaction to stressful situations and emergencies
