Case 1 : For Circular Current
The Thumb in right hand thumb rule represents the Direction of magnetic field vector . And the Direction in which your fingers curl is the direction of current flow . If you know direction of any one of the the other can be found using right hand thumb rule.
Case 2 : For Straight Current
In this case the thumb represent direction of the current and the fingers show the direction of magnetic field produced i.e clockwise or anticlockwise magnetic field .
