Shylock defending himself states how jacob made profit. Uncle laban agreed that all the lambs which would be born spotted or striped would belong to Jacob. Because newborns look like what their mothers see jacob arranged some Branches in such a way that their shadow fell on the lambs. This all the newborns were born striped. Shylock says that thats a way of making profit and thats completely fine until Shylock doesn't steal anything. To this Antonio replies that whatever happened with Jacob only happened because god wanted that to happen and nothing was under the control of Jacob. He then questions Shylock to ask if his gold and money is like the sheep and rams and how he could relate them.
