Here poet want to said that poet like to choose easy way but when his car stopped working at a dense forest where he get two ways where one road is full of grass because no people go through that way and one road is clear but poet choose the way which is full of grass and that makes all difference in his life

Both” in the above stanza refers to two roads which diverged in different directions. “In leaves no step had trodden back” means that both the roads were covered with yellow leaves and nobody had walked on them.
