what effect does construction of buildings and roads have on water percolation though the soil ?hence what effect would this have on the water table pls answer

Rainwater that percolates through the soil collects above the bedrock and this water is called water table. Water cannot percolate into the cement. The increasing construction of buildings and roads has reduced the soil cover. This results in decrease in water table
