What effect does remove an electron from an element have on the group number of the parent atom?

When an electron is removed from the parent atom-

-The number of protons in the nucleus stays the same but the number of electrons decreases.

-Thus the force of attraction of the nucleus per electrons increases.

-This increases the stability of the atom which is responsible for increased second ionisation enthalpy.
