Ozone is the only gas of significant concentration in our atmosphere, that absorbs UV-B. Oxygen and nitrogen absorb UV-C (which in turn makes some ozone). UV-A passes through the atmosphere, essentially undiminished.
So, an ozone hole would let you see some UV-B lines that you would not have seen without the "ozone hole". In fact, that is how they first became aware that we *had* an ozone hole.
