The following efforts have been made at the Global level to bring about resource conservation are:

a. The Club of Rome formed in 1968, propagated the need for resource conservation .
b. Gandhi's ideology of that  mass production should be replaced by production by masses in order to ensure optimum utilisation of resources, was reiterated by Schumacher in his book " Small is beautiful"
c. Brundtland Commission report which was presented in 1987, introduced the concept of sustainable development.
d. Earth summit that took place in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil in 1992.,where the the leaders of more than 100 nation states signed the Declaration on Global Climatic Change and Biological Diversity. They endorsed the global Forest Principles and adopted Agenda 21 for achieving Sustainable Development in the 21st century.
e. It produced a number of conventions with regard to climate change, protection of  biodiversity, and forestry.The summit also brought into the fore the questions pertaining to the protection and management of global commons
f.  One may also give example of International union for conservation of nature , an international organisation working towards bringing about solutions to environmental problems, assisting countries to bring about conservation of resources.
g. We may also give example  of which COP 20 is  basically the 20th Conference of Parties to the United Nations Climate Change Conferences. Ever since its inception the member states have  annual sessions to discuss and deliberate on global environmental problems. COP 1 was held in 1995 in Berlin .
