They made different kinds of surveys to understand the country more easily like- forest surveys, botanical surverys, zoological surveys and human surveys which helps them to understand everything more easily and govern the country more effectively.

For this, they made many efforts such as they established record rooms attached to all administrative institutions such as the village tahsildar's office, the collectorate, law courts etc. They also set up archives and museums to preserve important records.
