The physical characteristics and our memory enable us to recognise our friend's voice.

• Physical characteristics :

There are different physical characteristics of a person's voice like,

- pitch

- loudness

- bass

And many more.

These above mentioned physical characteristics makes an unique voice for each and everyone.

This unique voice configuration helps us to recognise a person by his/her voice.

• And, memory is also an obvious thing for voice recognition. If we don't memorize a person's voice type, then we cannot recognise him/her voice even if we hear him/her voice for the second time.

Humans are having a "sophisticated sensory memory", that enables us the recording ability and later we can recall the "vast amounts of speech", including the contextual information.

Explanation:

  • The memory power from brain cells makes the person to be more conscious and active enough in all sensory functions.
  • The brain cells are connected to ear system. The ear with ear drum makes the voice to reach the nervous tissue which in turn activates the brain portion, the temporal lobe to recognize the voice of various person.
  • Hence, the friend voice is heard by ear but identified by Brain.
