The conflict between the Bolsheviks and the Provisional government grew.Lenin feared the Provisional government would set up a dictatorship. Bolshevik supporters in the army were brought together. Lenin persuaded the Bolsheviks and the Provisional government to agree to a socialist seizure of power. The uprising began on 24th October. prime minister Kerenski had left the city to summon troops. People belonging to government seized the buildings of two Bolshevik newspapers. Pro government troops were sent to take over telephone and telegraph offices . In a swift response , the military revolutionary commitee ordered it's supporters to arrest ministers.
