What exactly do you mean by permanent hardness of water?

Water can be soft or hard based on its mineral content. Hard water contains a significant amount of dissolved minerals where as soft water does not.
A type of hardness that can be removed by boiling is called temporary hardness. Hardness of water can't be removed by boiling is called permanent hardness.
