Capacitance is the ability of a system to store electric charges in it and so called as Capacitor.

A capacitor is a device used to store more charge in a small piece.
And SI unit of capacitance is "farad"
smaller units are micro - farad and pico - farad.

Capacitance is defined as being that a capacitor has the capacitance of One Farad when a charge of One Coulomb is stored on the plates by a voltage of One volt. Note that capacitance, C is always positive in value and has no negative units
