In Mauryan Empire, a large part of India was united politically for the first time. The extent of Mauryan Empire during Chandragupta Maurya was from the northern India to present day Bihar. But, Ashoka the son of the grandson of Chandragupta ruled some parts of Afghanistan, almost whole of Pakistan and whole of India except the south India and northern part of India.
