The result of squaring a binomial is trinomial

Given :

A binomial

To find :

The result of squaring the binomial

Solution :

Step 1 of 3 :

Define binomial

In algebra, a binomial is a polynomial that is the sum of two terms, each of which is a monomial.

For example m + 9 is a binomial

Step 2 of 3 :

Find result of squaring the binomial

Squaring m + 9 we get

 \sf  {(m + 9)}^{2}

 \sf  =  {m }^{2}  + 2 \times m \times 9 +  {9}^{2}

 \sf  =  {m }^{2}  + 18m+  81

Step 3 of 3 :

Name the polynomial obtained

The number of terms in m² + 18m + 81 is 3

We know that a trinomial is a polynomial consisting of three terms or monomials.
