Answer: The cell culture is optimized to make it similar to the natural environment. There are many parameters that is maintained in the cell culture to make the environment suitable for their growth and development of bacteria. The physio-chemical properties such as temperature, carbon dioxide, oxygen and pH are maintained. The physiological properties such as hormones and nutrients are also maintained i the cell culture. The cell to cell interaction, diffusion of gases are also maintained in the culture to make it resemble to the natural surrounding.

The factors of a “cell culture's environment” is made as similar as possible to a “cell's natural surroundings” are:

i)   The cells are maintained and grown in a medium supplemented with glutamine, serum and antibiotics to maintain growth supplements and sterility and prevent growth of bacteria.

ii)    The pH of the growth medium is fixed to the pH of the body.

iii)   The cells are grown in an incubator where it is maintained at \bold{37^{\circ} \mathrm{C}}, humidity maintained and a fixed concentration of \bold{\mathrm{CO}_{2}}.
