Combination of these twenty amino acids in various forms lead to formation of thousands of unique proteins. The information present in a gene or many genes of DNA transcribe into mRNA which further translates to form functional protein. mRNA and tRNA match their codon and anticodon by following rule of complementarity and with the help of ribosomes add amino acids one after another to form polypeptide. Therefore according to the information in codons, various aminoacids  undergo various combinations to form thousands of unique proteins.
