Answer:

Hence, each factor responsible for the type of flora and fauna in an area, namely land, soil, temperature, humidity and precipitation, are variable across the length and breadth of the country. As a result, the flora and fauna found in India is diverse and rich.

The factors of diversity in flora and fauna are;

i) land; affect the natural vegetation directly and indirectly it influences the type of vegetations. for example, the fertile land is used for agriculture and rough terrains having grasslands and woodlands provides shelter to a variety of wildlife.

ii) Soil; different types of soils support the different types of vegetation.for example,the sandy soils of the desert supports cactus and thorny bushes while wet, marshy deltaic soils supports mangrooves and deltaic vegetation.

iii) temperature; along with the humidity in the air, precipitation and soil determines the type of vegetation, such as the slopes of the Himalayas and the hills of the Peninsula have subtropical temperature and alpine vegetation.

iv) Photoperiod(sunlight); the variation in duration of sunlight at different places is due to differences in latitude, altitude, season and duration of the day. region receiving sunlight for longer duration have dense vegetation and trees grow faster in summer

v) Precipitation: India receives rainfall by southwest monsoon and retreating northwest monsoons. areas of heavy rainfall have more dense vegetation as compared to other areas of less rainfall.
