Several factors have led to the backwardness of women and some of these are Lack of proper education, social, political and economic discrimination based on gender, several social evils which are prevalent in the society like female feticide and female infanticide.

EXPLANATION:

  • Indian society has been a patriarchal society for decades where it is about the dominance of men and the subordination of women. This dominance has given rise to several factors that have led to backwardness of women in India and different parts of the world.
  • The first and foremost reason is lack of proper education, women are not given proper education not only in academics but also about their rights and this makes them dependent on their Male counterparts.
  • Other reasons may include discrimination that is faced by women based on gender, that is they are not given an equal share of property which makes them dependent.
  • Several other social evils are prevalent in the country like the killing of female fetus and female infants, also crimes related to dowry and domestic violence, sexual abuse.
