1) The estates general was a political body of France to which the three estates sent their representatives. The voting in it had been conducted according to the principle that each estate had one vote.
2) When in 1789, Louis XVI called a meeting of the Estates General, he decided to continue the same old practice.

Answer: During the French Revolution, the National Assembly, which existed from 17 June 1789 to 9 July 1789, was a revolutionary assembly formed by the representatives of the Third Estate of the Estates-General; thereafter (until replaced by the Legislative Assembly on 30 Sept 1791) it was known as the National Constituent Assembly though popularly the shorter form persisted.
