The reflection of sound after striking a rigid body at a suitable distance, after the original sound had ceased, is called an echo.
◼The distance between the source of sound to the rigid obstacle must be 17 metres. It depends on medium in which sound is travelling through it may differ for water.
◼The size of rigid reflector should be more than wavelength of th sound wave.
◼The intensity of sound should be loud enough to reach and to be audible to our ears. If it will be less than the sound may cease away in its path.
For our atmosphere speed of sound is 340 m\sec.
