Velds are found in Southern Africa, especially in the countries of South Africa, Zimbabwe, Namibia, Swaziland, Botswana and Lesotho. Velds are flat area's covered in grass and is an open landscape.
Factors that can support cattle rearing in the veld are as follows:
1) The fodder produced in the landscape should be in requirement with the nutritional needs of the livestock.
2) Stacks of grass hay or branches can be placed over bare patches of land, so that these can be protected from the sun and wind.
3) Along the contours, if rows of stone are stacked, water would not run -off and would be absorbed into the soil, making it moist.
4) Where holes are noticed, trees can be planted. The holes will also enable water to get collected.
