The small intestine has millions of tiny finger-like projections called villi. These villi increase the surface area for more efficient food absorption. Within these villi, many blood vessels are present thatabsorb the digested food and carry it to the blood stream.

The small intestine has millions of tiny finger like projection on its wall called villi. These villi increase the surface area for more efficient food absorption. Monosaccharides, peptides and amino acids are absorbed by diffusion or active transport into the blood capillaries. villi absorb nutrients which are remained in digested food and send it directly to our blood.
