Concept:
- Hydraulic forces
- Pressure
- The pressure on both sides of the hydraulic machine have to be the same.
- F1/ A1 = F2/ A2
Given:
- Force 1 F1 = 150N
- First area of cross-section A1 = 12 cm^2
- Second area of cross-section A2 = 2 cm^2
Find:
- The force applied on the piston with the area of cross-section of 2 cm^2, F2
Solution:
The pressure on both sides of the hydraulic machines has to be the same.
F1/ A1 = F2/ A2
F1 A2 = F2 A1
F2 = F1 A2/A1
150 x 2 = F2 x 12
6 * F2 = 150
F2 = 150/ 6 = 25 N
The force applied is 25N.
