What forms when ammonium chloride is heated with an alkali and the gas evolvedtested with red litmus paper?? Name the gas evolve and product firmed?? Urgent

NH3 gas (ammonia) is evolved.

When NH4Cl is treated with Ca(OH)2 , NH4 gas is produced.


2NH4Cl + Ca(OH)2 -------> CaCl2 + 2H2O + 2NH3.

NH4Cl being a byproduct of Solvay's process this treated with alkali we again get back the ammonia.
That is why Solvay's process is advantageous.
