if you are given the speed of light in both the mediums, then you'll use the formula:-
n=v1/v2.
n=v1/v2.

because c/v means spees of light in vacuum upon speed of light in the given medium. but you are given both the medium's speeds
so you will prefer the formula :- speed of light in 1 medium upon speed of light in 2nd medium
