Working out:

In a complete clockwise revolution, the hour hand covers 360° around the clock. The direction in which the hands of the clocks turn is known as Clockwise direction.

From 12 am to 12 pm (Just for reference)

There are 12 hours, so the hands will cover 360° in 12 hours.

➝ 12 hours = 360°

➝ 1 hour = 360° / 12 = 30°

Now in the question, it is given that the hands move from 12 to 3 in anti-clockwise direction. The direction opposite to the direction of hands of clock.

  • 12 to 11, 11 to 10, 10 to 9, 9 to 8, 8 to 7, 7 to 6, 6 to 5, 5 to 4 and 4 to 3

In this span, it is going through 9 hours.

➝ 9 hours = 30° × 9

➝ 9 hours = 270°

We have to find the fraction of degree turned by the clock by the total revolution.

  • Degree turned in anti-clockwise dir. = 270°
  • Total revolution = 360°

➝ Required fraction = 270° / 360°

➝ Required fraction = 3/4

So, the fraction of a clockwise revolution does the hour hand of a clock turn through, when it goes from 12 to 3 in anti-clock wise direction:

 \LARGE{ \boxed{ \bf{ \red{ \frac{3}{4}}}}}

And we are done !!
