The goods and services tax (GST) is a value-added tax levied on most goods and services sold for domestic consumption. The GST is paid by consumers, but it is remitted to the government by the businesses selling the goods and services. In effect, GST provides revenue for the government.

Examples of GST are as follows: Central GST (CGST) which will be levied by Centre. State GST (SGST) Which will be levied by State. Integrated GST (IGST) – which will be levied by Central Government on inter-State supply of goods and services.

Hope it helps..!!

GST is a single tax on the supply of goods and services. That means the end consumer will only bear the GST charged by the last dealer in the supply chain. ... To add to that, one has to pay a "tax on tax" throughout the value chain as well.

Hope it helps...

This is a small way on learning.
