When Amundsen was a kid he always wanted to travel and see different places hence this inspired him to become an explorer.

• However, his mother wanted him to be a doctor so he gave up his wish and pursued medicine as a career. When he was 21, his mother died leaving him alone.  

• Amundsen after that decided to be an explorer. He was quite tall and healthy perfect to make difficult journeys.

Amundsen was inspired to become an explorer as he had read a lot about the British explorers. As a child, he joined many sports team and slept with the windows wide open despite of the freezing cold so that he would be be fit and strong. As an adult, he became a part of the crew. He watched, listened it and learn the useful skills.
