Interesting question.
Hemingway supposedly once quipped, “I hate writing, but I love having written.” I can’t say that those are my feelings though. I often love writing, experience great pleasure when doing creative writing. I enjoy being a spectator of what comes out of me.
I am also a person who enjoys discovering new things, so the process of researching when assembling an article can be very rewarding and satisfying. In fact, sometimes I get into it so much I almost fail to get to the writing.
Crafting a piece that is really effective does take work, mental work, especially when you set a high bar for yourself. If I’m being paid I like to produce work worth what I am being paid.
So, to return to your question, what do I feel? When I wrote my story “A Poem About Truth” which is in my eBook I felt an exhilaration as I wrote it. I felt that same feeling when I wrote my sci-fi story
(I wrote the story in a single day and edited it the next)
Editing involves a different part of the brain than giving birth, so there are different feelings associated with that.
Ultimately one feels, or I have felt, a great satisfaction when I have produced something I consider worthy of sharing, similar to what I feel as an artist when I paint something special
