Question: What are heterotrophs???Answer: Mode of nutrition in which organisms do not prepare their own food is known as Heterotrophs.
OTHER NOTES TO KNOW:
☞The process of obtaining & utilising food by an organism, is known as Autotrophic Nutrition.
◍The process of obtaining food is not the same in all organisms. On the basis of food habits, the modes of obtaining the required nutrition, by the body, have been divided into the following two categories:
- Autotrophic nutrition
- Heterotrophic nutrition
AUTOTROPHIC NUTRITION:
☞The mode of nutrition in which organisms can make their own food from simple raw materials are known as Autotrophic Nutrition.
☞All green plants & some bacteria are autotrophs.
☞(in Greek, auto = self ; trophe = nutrition).
HETEROTROPHIC NUTRITION:
☞The mode of nutrition in which organisms do not prepare their own food is known as Heterotrophic Nutrition.
☞All animals, and a few plants, are heterotrophs.
☞(in Greek, heterone = (an) other)
➜Heterotrophic nutrition is divided into three types:
- Saprotrophic Nutrition
- Parasitic Nutrition
- Holozoic Nutrition.
1.SAPROTROPHIC NUTRITION:
☞The Mode of nutrition in which some plants feed on dead & decaying matter is known as saprotrophic nutrition☞‘sapros’ means rotten & ‘trophic’ means food.
2.PARASITIC NUTRITION:
☞The mode of nutrition in which non-green plants live on other other living organisms & obtain their food from them is known as Parasitic Nutrition
(I am really extremely sorry, I doesn't know the defination of holozoic nutrition, very very very sorry )
